Following curricula are available for bachelor's studies:

Gene Technology Bachelor Study Program (teaching language: Estonian)


The Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology has more than 30 years of experience in teaching in the field of gene technology. During this time, the institute has constantly developed the curriculum, keeping it modern and competitive. The study program includes lectures and seminars as well as practical courses and internships. Such a symphony of learning forms provides, among other things, a thorough overview of genetics, cell and molecular biology, both in theory and in practice. The knowledge acquired in the curriculum is essential to contribute to the development of modern biotechnology and medicine, from the green revolution to modern vaccines. Graduates of the curriculum are highly valued both at home and abroad, and provides opportunities to work in a wide range of fields from agriculture to medicine.

 

The Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology also participates in the teaching of the following curricula:

Biology and Biodiversity Conservation (possibility to choose between molecular and cell biology or biology protection disciplines) (teaching language: Estonian)

Science and Technology (curriculum in English)

 

In the academic year 2023-2024 42 students defended their Bachelor's thesis in our institute. 

In the academic year 2022-2023 43 students defended their Bachelor's thesis in our institute: 30 of them graduated Gene Technology and 13 Biology curriculum.

In the academic year 2021-2022 31 students defended their Bachelor's thesis in our institute: 19 of them graduated Gene Technology and 12 Biology curriculum.

NB! If a fixed-term restriction has been established on the publication, the thesis will available in the database after the restriction has been expired.

A regular or external student must submit their graduation thesis for defence along with an electronic licence (permit) authorising the preservation and publication of the thesis on the Internet in the digital archives of Tartu University Library. The non-exclusive licence must be submitted in the electronic (PDF) file of the thesis and is the prerequisite for allowing the author to defend the thesis. The non-exclusive licence does not need to be signed – consent may be placed at the very end of the thesis.

The author grants the university a permission to electronically publish the graduation thesis via the university’s web environment under the Creative Commons licence CC BY NC ND 4.0, which allows, by giving appropriate credit to the author, to reproduce, distribute the work and communicate it to the public, and prohibits the creation of derivative works and any commercial use of the work. If a fixed-term restriction has been established on the publication of a graduation thesis by a directive of the vice dean for academic affairs, the author allows the university to make the graduation thesis public after the expiry of the restriction.
